It's gettin' hot out here for a pimp....
Wow, 106 degrees...that was our high today. People around here say the hottest it can get in mid summer is 150. I can't wait. Ok, quick rundown, I only get 30 mins at a time on these community comps and I'm here at midnight my time tryin' to get this in. First of all the food is great here. I even took pictures so you guys will see but I'm eating healthy and tasty. Living conditions suck. we are cramped up in a tent...like the TV show MASH but only worse. I'm gonna live in a tent for a year....on a top bunk no less. My main mission has kept changing back and forth but now its settled, I'll be going on convoys running supplies all over northern, southern, and western Iraq. I'm at Al-Asad, a former Iraqi air base. It's actually not to bad a place, but you guys will see plenty of pics in the coming months. A convoy went out yesterday and they were hit by 3 I.E.D.s or roadside bombs. Mostly just beat the vehicles up but one dude had a bone in his foot shatter. These people we are taking over for say that 98% of the convoys they go out on they either find an I.E.D. or one blows up. the insurgents are very busy in our neck of the woods.....(hahaha theres no woods here...) Ok, but seriously our vehicles are well armoured and the team that we are taking over for were here for a year and never lost 1 soldier. there were injuries but no Americans died from thier units.....Dammit, my time is runnin' short here. I'll be getting on as much as I can, and when I can't my trustworthy buddy, and web admin...Dave...will update you if all I can do is make a quick call to him....he's open 24 hours a day for me and I appreciate it so much. It's like they say, its hard to do what we do here without the people back home that support us. Sincerely Troy. |

moving again..
Well people soon I'll be leaving this little camp in Kuwait for my duty station, I'm not allowed to say where yet but I'll let you know as soon as I can so you can all get your maps out and look at the little spot of desert I will be calling home for the rest of my tour here. We (as medics) have been attending sporadic classes on sprains, dislocations, ect. ect. but we have had a good amount of time to ourselves. You will be glad to know I have not had 1 Mt. Dew.....nay......1 soda pop of any kind since I boarded the plane to Kuwait. I am trying to eat better, and have started working out in the gym so that I can support myself when I get home modeling underwear for Target ads. The new improved Troy will be available in about May of 2007. You may ask, "why so long? there is so little to improve upon..." I know but thats what the contract says. nothin' I can do about that. My next post will be sent from my new home so stay tuned lovers. Troy.

my first taste...
This past week I had my first real taste of living in the desert. Three of my fellow medics and I had to go on a 3 day convoy training operation. The desert is not a pleasant place to live, it seems that 50% of the days here are windy enough to blow sand up enough to be annoying. After 3 days with no shower when I got back I found sand EVERYWHERE. The training was good though, some of the best we have recieved yet I believe, and I saw improvements made by our soldiers in thier convoy ops.....the more we do it the better we will get. We had to "rough it" out there, that means eating M.R.E.s (the army package meals) and sleeping under the stars. There was a tent but it was so small that I would have been the peanut butter in a Reid and King sandwich (2 of the medics I was with) so I opted for the outdoors. So far things have been going good, and so is my optimism. We have a little more training to do here then we will head north into Iraq and my main duty Station. thats all for now. Take care people. T-Dawg out. |

gettin'some sun..
Hello people, I'm halfway arond the world right now, in Kuwait. The weather is sunny and Hot...about 80-85. We had the day off to recover from jet lag, so I slept most of the day, getting up to eat....I wasn't gonna miss out on hot-dogs which I can get everyday if I want . We flew out of Mississippi into Bangor, Maine. from there to Shannon, Ireland...stayed there for about an hour to refuel and stretch our legs, Then on to Kuwait. Tomorrow we get a couple classes but our day should be done around 2pm, of course that will be around 6am your time. Just wanted to let you know we arrived safe and I'll be updating as time allows. Take care my friends. T-Dawg. |
