Long time no see.....
|
Hello Minnesota! How ya'll feeling tonight? A shout out to my homies in Minneapolis, hey guys! You got anyone visiting from out of state?.....Hey! Hi how are ya?.....Good. Good to see you here.
It's been a long time since I posted. I have been really busy with lots of training going on down here.
We were living out in the field again learning sweep and search techniques for a clearing a house, going room to room. Base defense, quick reaction force, which is a wheeled mobile unit, ready to react to different hostile scenarios. Convoy operations, and ground assault course. Along with the training we learned how to use the new GPS navigation systems. They are putting them in all the vehicles and have handheld ones also.
The last three days we have had more time to ourselves and are starting to get back to a regular schedule, like doing PT (excercise), and misc. classes taught by our doc's. We have also started running a sick-call for the troops down here.
One thing that sucks, is we have spent all this time training together but it sounds as though some of us will be leaving Charlie Med. An infantry and cavalry unit are short medics, and our Captain had to choose soldiers that he felt would be confident and able to do their job while working under fire. Also, they had to be male because the units they are going to are all male (and they didn't want females "distracting" them). Twelve medics were chosen and I was one of them including Weisenburger, Nygaard, and Sgt Kaphing. I have gotten close to these people during the deployment so the split sucks, but the one cool thing is I will have more of an oppurtunity to be in a position to possibly save a life.
When I get more information on when and where I will be going, I will let you know. Sorry I blog so infrequently, I will try to do so when I can. Please stay tuned and comment to let me know you're there. I miss everybody and I am looking forward to coming home for Christmas. |

Still no pictures here...sorry people, there is nothing I can do about that in Mississippi, I won't be adding comments till the pictures get caught up, my people back home have about 100 pictures to put up, and I have about 300 here and they are stacking up more daily. Seriously, if it takes this long to get the pictures up, the final pics of us leaving Iraq will be up around 2010. I apoligize for saying there would be pictures up soon. |

Wheee! I'm on the Intro-net! When I get on the Intro-net, I feel like I'm a puppy thats always locked indoors, but someone left the door open and now I'm sprinting across the yard in freedom. I get to reach and out and touch everyone..at once! (whether your comfortable with that, I leave to you). O.K. the medic training is behind us. It was great training, most of us are good with treatment, but triage and evac. can always get worked on. For the last three days we have been practicing how to move individually, squad, platoon, tactical movements. Tomorrow is our test-out. We will need to move to an objective (some trench and bunker areas) and clear them of enemy activity. It's a good workout runnin' around with the ballistic vest, and laser-tag gear, we are still gettin' used to that stuff. on Friday we will get a "rest" day and then saturday we will start M.O.U.T. training. More on that later. I am still taking lots of pictures, and collecting them from other people. My "battle-buddy" Spc. Weisenburger is helping me with my computer stuff at this end, the pictures will be up as soon as my buddys back home compress the pictures, so they load easier for you, so please stay tuned. (theres alot of pics.) Thank-you to everyone who has been commenting on the site (weisenburgers' mom, my people from work, family, friends) Please, when you comment, say who you are, and who you know here, we can get messages to people in the unit for you also. Thanks again and stay tuned |

almost a month into it...

School is almost over..the medic stuff anyway. Tomorrow we start the hands on stuff to test out. We gotta get up at 1am and be out on our lanes ready to Triage and treat casualties for 11 Hrs. they will try to make it as real world as possible, so there will be screaming wounded soldiers, with smoke and the sounds of battle, exploding around us...pretty cool. We have 3 days of this then we may get a break for a day or 2. much needed. It gets boring here, we cant go off base, pretty much confined to a 1 block area. We will be recieving our Smallpox Vaccine next week. That's about all i have for ya at this point. boring stuff, but we are goofing off enough to keep spirits up. alot more pics will be coming. Take care people. T-dawg out. |
